The quality of education in Australia is internationally recognized as one of the best in the world. Moreover, Australia is one of the few countries around the world that allows international students to work legally while attending their studies. Working while studying in Australia can help complement your study and living experience.

Regardless of what the students are studying or how long they are studying for, Australia’s laws promote quality education and protection for international students.

There are a number of reasons might want to undertake part-time work while studying in Australia, including assisting with living expenses and gaining work experience in the study area.

A student visa allows you to work for up to 40 hours every two weeks while your course is in session, and unrestricted hours during any scheduled course break.

You can also participate in voluntary work above the 40-hour rule if the following conditions are met:-

• Your degree remains a priority
• The work you’re doing wouldn’t be taken by an Australian resident
• You work for a non-profit organization and you don’t get paid in cash for your job

If the student’s voluntary job doesn’t comply with the above conditions then they won’t be allowed to work more than 40 hours per two weeks.

Unrestricted work rights for student visa holders to end on 30 June 2023:- In January 2022, the Australian Government temporarily relaxed working hour restrictions for student visa holders, Until this time, international students can work more than 40 hours a fortnight in any sector of the economy.
